Brayman Construction Begins Work on Gauley Bridge
Down in the foothills of West Virginia, we are in the process of completing the dismantling of Gauley Bridge. The structure itself is enormous, but the equipment being used to disassemble the bridge is what has everyone talking. Sixty-two trucks were required to move the Manitowoc 18000 crane onto the jobsite. This 825-ton crane, complete with hanging MAX-ER tray, was required to remove three truss spans of the CSX rail bridge, eliminating the need to place barges in the New River. The longest of the three trusses measured 156ft and all three trusses were removed in one day.
