Brayman Construction Named Low Bidder by AEP for John E. Amos Power Plant Construction
Brayman Construction Corporation (Brayman) was named low bidder for construction at the John E. Amos Power Plant in Winfield, WV. This $6.9M project will entail the construction of a new, 1-mile coal ash, haul road and a 3-span steel girder bridge. Additionally, there will be approximately 65,000cy of earthwork, various drainage and guide rail upgrades, curb and gutter work, a 4,700sf reinforced earth retaining wall and 2,600lf of driven pile to support the steel girder structure.
John E. Amos Power Plant is a three-unit coal-fired plant owned and operated by Appalachian Power, a subsidiary of AEP. With a nameplate rating of 2,933MW, it is the largest utility in the AEP system. The plant is located between US Route 35 (Winfield Road) and the Kanawha River.
