Brayman Lands Ices Ferry Bridge Project for the West Virginia Department of Highways

Brayman was named the apparent low bidder for the replacement of the Ices Ferry Bridge over Cheat Lake in Monongalia County, West Virginia. This project will consist of the replacement of a 4-span steel bridge on a new alignment and once complete, the demolition of the current, 89-year old structure.

The Ices Ferry Bridge is the longest pin-connected truss bridge in West Virginia. The new structure will be constructed over Cheat Lake and will utilize truckable barges to provide floating access for all construction materials and equipment.

The project scope will also include sheet-pile slope protection cut-off wall and abutment, erection of 2.5 million pounds of weathering steel, concrete bridge deck and bridge approach roadway construction. Once open to traffic, the existing structure will be completely removed and a plaque will be presented to the community for historical notation.
