This project consisted of a new four-span steel structure bridge for CSX Railroad, located in Youngstown, Ohio. The new span is 490ft in length and located directly upstream of the existing bridge that remained in service until the new structure was completed.The existing bridge was demolished upon completion of the new span. The demolition of the existing bridge was done with explosives and the entire structure was recycled.
The substructure consisted of six (6), 8ft diameter caissons with 7ft diameter pier columns. The super structure consists of two (2) fascia girders per span with floor beams and intermediate diaphragms. A concrete deck, 29ft in width, was constructed and now provides service for two sets of railroad tracks.
