Brayman Construction was responsible for the installation of a 6,500sf temporary shoring wall for the new Children’s Hospital Plaza Building located on 45th Street in the Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh.
The shoring consisted of a cantilever and double anchored pile and lagging wall using H-piles and 4in thick timber lagging. The work included the installation of 44 soldier piles placed in 30in diameter caisson holes and 15 soil anchors varying in length between 37ft to 45ft long. The depth of excavation varied from approximately 15ft to 30ft deep.
In addition, Brayman installed the building foundation consisting of 80, 3ft diameter caissons varying from 14ft to 30ft below subgrade.
