This endeavor requires the construction of a 3/4-mile haul road and a 3-span steel girder bridge, which will be used to haul fly ash to the landfill. Additionally, there will be approximately 65,000cy of earthwork, various drainage and guardrail upgrades, curb and gutter work, a 4,700sf reinforced earth retaining wall and 2,600lf of driven pile to support the steel girder structure.

John E. Amos Power Plant is a three-unit coal-fired plant owned and operated by Appalachian Power, a subsidiary of AEP. With a nameplate rating of 2,933MW, it is the largest utility in the AEP system. The plant is located between old US Route 35 and the Kanawha River.
