Due to fractured rock, monoliths SM8 and SM9 required 18-each high capacity tiedown anchors to be installed. The total drill depth of the ten, 50-strand anchors and eight, 29-strand anchors was 1,712lf. Each hole was consolidation grouted, redrilled and water tightness tested prior to anchor installation. Once the anchors were installed and the grout reached the required strength, nine (9) proof and performance tests were performed.
For future load monitoring, nine (9) custom permanent load cells were supplied and installed. This project was a result of the unanticipated fractured rock and, due to this unforeseen issue, the anchor installation became the critical path for the completion of the monoliths. Brayman completed all associated work safely and on time.
