CONSOL CRDA 7 Sed Pond
CONSOL CRDA 7 Sed Pond
The Brayman Team completed the drilling and installation of 1250 Nails and installed 29,000 SF of shotcrete as part of the CONSOL Coal Refuse Disposal Area 7 Project in Greene County, Pennsylvania. The nails and shotcrete were installed as part of a system to line the side walls of the emergency spillway for the disposal area sediment pond.
The project was completed in two phases as overburden was excavated from the emergency spillway area. The first phase was completed using a self-contained Epiroc pneumatic drill from the spillway base. Nails were installed and grouted down to the next excavation level. The second phase was completed using a TEI Rock Drill mast mounted on a Caterpillar Mini-Excavator to allow us to reach heights of 16 feet above the spillway base to drill nails. After all nails were drilled and the team completed wall face scaling and cleanup, a 4x4 Welded Wire Mesh was installed on the wall face. Shotcrete was placed using a tracked man lift and trailer-mounted concrete pump.
In addition to Brayman’s safety policies, the crew had to obtain MSHA Surface Miner certifications and follow MSHA regulations while working on-site.
