414 Light Street
414 Light Street
Brayman was subcontracted to provide specialty geotechnical construction services in support of the 414 Light Street Apartment Complex project located at the corner of Light and Conway Streets on the edge of the Inner Harbor seaport of Baltimore, MD. Engineering analysis recommended a deep foundation system comprised of caissons to support construction of the multi-story building within the development site. These new foundations must be drilled to bedrock through existing auger cast piles remaining in the ground from a building razed over twenty years ago. Brayman’s scope of work involves installation of the 113-each drilled caissons ranging in diameter from 36-inches to 96-inches and with depths exceeding 120-feet. Due to soil conditions of the harbor site, polymer slurry along with temporary casing is necessary to stabilize the shaft sidewalls. Brayman performed all drilling operations under an accelerated schedule utilizing multiple drill rigs and second shifts concurrently.
