Big Walnut Sanitary Trunk Extension, Phase 2

Big Walnut Sanitary Trunk Extension, Phase 2
Brayman was subcontracted to install drop shafts at two sites to facilitate access and venting of a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) tunnel project in Columbus, OH. This Project will extend the existing 72-inch sewer further into Franklin County and Delaware County.
The scope of work included installing four drop shafts. The drop shafts measured 9 feet by 31 feet, 36 inches by 158 feet, 9 feet by 32 feet, and 36 inches by 172 feet. The access hole was 10 feet by 154 feet, and the vent was 36 inches by 172 feet. All of the shafts were drilled using conventional methods and were lined with full length steel casing.
With the work site in a residential area, the Team faced constraints that included limited access and strict noise and vibration restrictions.
Brayman affiliate company, Advantage Steel & Construction, provided the custom drill tooling and steel fabrications.
